Inspiration

How stunning are the paintings of Casper Kang?? Born in Toronto and now living in Seoul, his work has a distinct multicultural and contemporary flavor, one might even say psychedelic. I quite admire how his work manages to balance a sense chaos with order; contrasting clean, repeating patterns with bold colors and intricate details. Seriously, inspiration for days. I’m not sure what I enjoy more – his work, or the fact that he quit the rat race to pursue a life of passion and artistic fulfillment. Radness. Be sure to check out his site for lots more work.

I have no clue what the music sounds like, but these vintage Polish album covers I discovered on 50 Watts are totally groovy. Created in the first half of the 20th century, I love the juxtaposition of abstract art paired with classical music. How amazing would it be to stumble across one of these puppies at a yard sale? See even more over at the original post.

There’s something so magical about the set of below images, all by different artists. Mother Nature has come to life, and just in time for Spring. We could get all ‘English Lit’ about the meaning of becoming one with nature, or we could simply appreciate these lovely females in full bloom.

Last night I attended a workshop organized by two incredibly talented ladies, Bri Emery [of DesignLoveFest] and Jen Gotch [of Ban.do]. It was a casual and fun event where creativity took on a new form: the inspiration string. They’ve essentially reinvented the mood board, making it more tactile and 3d and awesome. We were encouraged to bring our own trinkets and ephemera, but of course they supplied us with oodles of colorful and sparkly bits to help us along. And to set the mood just right, this all took place inside of one of the happiest places on earth; Anthropologie. It was almost too much eye candy to handle. I do like how mine came out, and it looks pretty neat in my office, don’t you think?
