We kept things local this week, heading to the Venice Beach area for our 26 week photo shoot. Upon driving by, it seemed perfectly clear to me that this aquatic mural would make the perfect compliment to my smurf-blue tights. This will likely be my last woven dress of the series, I’m guessing I’ll need to go strictly stretchy from here on out. Luckily my closet is well equipped!

Driving through Hollywood one day, I spotted this amazing rainbow-hued mural on the security gate of fine drinking establishment, which luckily for me, appeared to be closed for remodeling. Although it may not be the most intricate or sophisticated of motifs, it’s bright colors and geometric composition make it my favorite in this series thus far. And I think it made for the perfect compliment to my graphic skirt and WkShp tee, which just so happens to feature one of our own Aaryn West designs.

Each week I’m growing a little bigger, and ever more thankful for the healthy collection of knit maxi dresses I’ve collected over the years. This ensemble is a little more special than previous weeks only because I’m sporting the desert photo top I designed last year for Hi! Expectation’s spring 2013 collection. The photographic landscape and lack of color make it the perfect top to throw over a brightly printed maxi dress. Mixing prints is where it’s at. And let’s be honest – it always feels good to be able to wear one of your own designs.

This week marks the halfway point of my pregnancy, and I’m enjoying what’s generally billed as the easiest part of this crazy ride. The nausea has subsided, I’ve got a surge of energy lately, and it’s exciting to explore the forgotten depths of my closet as my belly continues to grow. All I can really say is that my life long addiction to knits is really paying off, and it’s possible I might make it all the way to the end without buying any proper maternity clothes.
