The Rose Bowl flea market in Pasadena might just be one of the most amazing places on Earth. I always have a hard time committing to a purchase only because the urge to buy is so strong. Does that even make sense? Plus, if I weigh myself down with too much awesome loot I’ll surely inhibit my ability to snap photos. And that, dear friends, is always my primary agenda when I go to this; to share the beautiful eye candy with all of you out there. Be sure to come back next week for the vintage textiles edition!

As a pattern designer, even my plants seem to sport awesome prints. I’ve become a little addicted to gardening lately and wanted to share these photos so you could see why. Exotic looking succulents have become my favorite because they’re amazingly gorgeous and so easy to maintain. I’m especially partial to the pink ones. I even threw in a picture of our grapes, for good measure. They’re turning from green to red, I can’t wait to eat them in a few weeks!

When my friend Cari moved to the East Coast last year I was fortunate enough to acquire a hefty stack of vintage fashion magazines from her. I pulled the May, 1970 issue of Harper’s Bazaar and began photographing the pages to share here on the blog. Unfortunately, very few pages were printed in color, and not long into the process I physically could not resist the temptation to recolor these black and white images, Aaryn West style. I made sure to keep my colors off-registration, as a nod to 1970s printing quality. What do you think? Canyadigit?
