Thanks to more rainy weekends, a trip to NY and a few bad colds, we didn’t have another chance to shoot until week 15. It’s not easy pretending to be a model during your first trimester, I’ll tell you that much. This week we headed downtown to check out the Arts District, which resulted in a plethora of location options for future weeks. When I saw this fiery red mural I knew it was the one I had to start with.
Come back next week for an update in our ongoing series: Patterns, Preggos & Painted Places.

Today we’re turning the spotlight on a print trend we’ve been seeing a lot of lately, and one that we’re completely bonkers for: scribble art. Inspired by the free-form musings of fine artists like Cy Twombly, scribble prints are an explosion of color and texture. This spring we’ve spotted this trend on everything from the runway to shoes, and even book covers. Here’s a collection of some of our favorite examples from around the web.

A few weeks back I had the pleasure of attending opening night of a group exhibition called Banana Split Ladies, presented by Campy Crush. Appropriately held at the cutest boutique in all of Eagle Rock, Leanna Lin’s Wonderland, the artwork is a celebration of women with attitude. I snapped a few shots of some of my favorite pieces, and also some of the uber-adorable wares that you can normally find at this gem of a shop.
Since I obviously didn’t take enough pictures when I was there, go here for a detailed view of all the art from the exhibit. Participating artists include (in alphabetical order) Ambird, Elisa Sassi, Esther Kim, Fawn Fruits, Melissa Contreras, Rudy Fig, Super Secret Pow Wow and Wishcandy. For those in LA, be sure to visit the show in person before it closes on April 28th!

Week 8 was a bust due to inclement weather, so we had to pick back up on our little project in Week 9. You have to love living in a city where you can get away with just a light cardigan in the middle of December, which is when this photo was taken. When my sci-fi loving husband spotted this spaced-out mural we knew we had to make it a part of this photo series.
Come back next week for an update in our ongoing series: Patterns, Preggos & Painted Places.
