I decided it was only appropriate to share a little personal project of mine here on the blog, since it’s turning out to be a fun one and seems more than relevant. Let me begin by confessing I was heavily inspired by this maternity series, photographed by Ryan Marshall, which I originally stumbled across several years ago. It’s amazing. So when the time came to start shooting my own photos, I figured out the details and put my talented husband to work, handing him the camera.
With a closet full of patterned clothes, we set out to document the growth of our little one amidst the artistic backdrop of Los Angeles. Come back next week for an update in our ongoing series: Patterns, Preggos & Painted Places.
If you had asked me at the age of four to list my favorite colors, it would have looked quite a lot like today’s color palette. It may have had something to do with my preconceived notion of what ‘girl colors’ were, but even to this day I tend to lean toward warm and fiery hues. It got me wondering, how much do our color tastes change over time? Do we all still listen to our inner four-year-old? Do you?
Simplified floral motifs with a folkloric twist and black grounds were well represented in several Fall 2013 runway collections. There were so many great looks fitting this trend, it was a challenge deciding on three to feature!
Heart prints had such a strong presence in the Fall 2013 collections that they couldn’t be overlooked as a print trend. Whether presented in a basic repeat, or jazzed up with geometric and linear details, they are sure to add a nostalgic and youthful charm to your print collection.
