Last weekend I made a temporary escape from Los Angeles, spending a much needed weekend in Palm Springs with some of my favorite girlies. It was a short trip, but it’s amazing what a little time spent lounging at the pool can do for your soul. I can’t believe that in all of my thirteen years in Los Angeles this was my first stay in this relaxing desert oasis. We stayed at The Saguaro, which is entirely the right hotel for anyone who thinks there should be more patterns and rainbow colors everywhere. I think they’re on to something…

Highlights from the trip included handmade bracelets by my friend Tina of Thread Science [etsy store coming soon!], watermelon margaritas, and a very fruitful trip to some local thrift shops. A pretty perfect weekend if you ask me.

As a lover of all things bohemian and folksy, I pretty much died when I came across this collection of Ancient Ukrainian Embroidery over on the blog 50 Watts. I followed the link back to the original Picasa album, which is absolutely worth a few minutes of your time. I really don’t know which I prefer more – the bright, angular geos, or the dustier organic floral motifs? It’s so hard… I love them all!

July was just bonkers. If you noticed the recent drop in posts you’ve probably already figured that out. But it was a good kind of busy, with exciting new projects and developments, and a little bit of fun on the side. So without further ado I’m bringing you another big time trend from the Resort 2013 collections. I’m still not certain that the mass population is ready to full-on embrace the head-to-toe printed ensemble, particularly the matching pant suit. These designers, however, are clearly ready. From simple to statement and everywhere in between; would you give one of these looks a whirl?

Oh hi, Monday, how did you get here so fast? Here’s a tasty little jewel-laden color story to munch on for the remainder of your week. Yes, I said munch. Also, if you’re not totally creeped out by the gorgeous beetle below, you need to wander over to see the entire insect series by Christopher Marley. Mother Nature is truly the ultimate artist.

Since I can’t bury my toes into the golden sand of an exotic beach this morning, I thought I’d at least channel that thought into today’s color post. Not to mention, I’m fascinated by the head-to-toe print trend [which I first blogged about way back in this post] and these complimentary leopard prints from Giambattista Valli’s Resort 2013 collection really tickle my fancy.
