Some might say that every print tells a story. While that might make an adequate metaphor in most cases, this particular trend displays a more literal interpretation. We found a noteworthy number of typographic prints parading down the runway in the Spring 2015 shows. This can be a tricky trend to tackle as every typeface and recognizable word will conjure a different feeling in your audience – much more so than a paisley or floral element. Our advice is to either distort your overall design just enough to prevent your written words from being fully discernible, or pick a simple word or short phrase to repeat that you think will be universally likable.

With all of the psychedelic flower power found blooming in the Spring ’15 runway shows, we had to wonder just how many designers were drinking from the same well of acid-laced Kool-Aid? (Um.. and where can we get some?!) This may just be the trend we are most excited to see emerging from the newest shows. With dizzying and playful motifs, and colors that nearly surpass louder-than-life status, these vintage florals are sure to be the life of the Spring print party.

Happy Cyber Monday, Friends!  For those abroad, perhaps it was just like any other weekend – but for us in the US it was most likely a festive weekend spent eating (too much), shopping (hopefully with small businesses), and perhaps even some decking of said halls. And with today being the busiest online shopping day of the entire year, we thought it would be the perfect time to announce the winners of our first ever Gift Wrap Giveaway!

If you didn’t catch last week’s post, we hosted a giveaway in celebration of our online shop opening over at Spoonflower, where we are selling gift wrap, fabric and wallpaper. The original plan was to select three winners in total – one from Facebook, another from Instagram and the final winner from here on the blog.. however due to a lack of involvement on the blog we’ve decided to pick two winners from our Facebook participants.

After writing all the names on some of our gift wrap (naturally) we’ve thrown them all into a bowl and selected the following names at random:

Instagram Winner – Erica Pike
Facebook Winner 1 – Elisabeth Brizzi
Facebook Winner 2 – Tania Campos

We will be contacting each of you immediately to find out which design you will be selecting as your free roll of gift wrap! A big thanks to everyone for participating, and we hope you will think of Aaryn West the next time you wrap a gift!!

It is with great excitement that we announce our joining forces with Spoonflower in order to offer a growing selection of designs available for sale as fabric, gift wrap, and wallpaper. If you’re not already familiar with Spoonflower, you should check out their craft-inducing menu of products which are all produced and shipped from Durham, North Carolina. We have been huge fans of their high quality wrapping paper since last year – this is definitely NOT the crap you buy at the local pharmacy that rips like crazy when you try to drag scissors across a large area. No way. This is some beautifully printed, heavy duty paper. It’s so forgiving that should you find the need to reposition a piece of tape in the middle of wrapping a gift, it doesn’t even remove the ink from the print or tear the paper! In other words, it’s good stuff.

In an effort to get the word out about these great new products we are giving away three rolls of gift wrap to lucky winners, chosen at random, across three different platforms – one winner on the blog, one on Instagram, and one on Facebook. This means you have a total of three opportunities to enter the giveaway, enhancing your chances to up your gift giving game with some awesome Aaryn West wrapping paper. The drawing ends Friday, November 28th at 9pm PST. And entering couldn’t be easier – keep reading below for instructions on how get in on the action.

Novelty prints are having a major moment right meow. So much so that it was a little difficult deciding which ones to report on. From common favorites like birds and butterflies, to the still-going-strong selection of tropical fruits (pineapples and bananas, anyone?), conversationals are a hot commodity for Spring 2015. Cats make for a relevantly quirky choice because they satisfy not only the ‘cute animal’ category, but can also merchandise well with the tropical themes that will no doubt dominate the season. Here Kitty, Kitty!
