Last October while exhibiting at the LA Textile Show I had the pleasure of meeting the one and only LA Shoegirl, a style savvy footwear designer named Nalini Arora. If you’re familiar with this blog, you may recall that she featured one of our prints and did a mini interview a while back, in her swatch of the week.
This time she’s really hooked us up, incorporating one of her favorite prints from our collection into a custom-designed (and extremely drool-worthy) pair of shoes. Boots, actually, and the ones I’ve been coveting for a while.. and just to be an overachiever she designed an extra pair for herself! (Yes, thank you, I’ll take one of each, please.) I love how she really deconstructs her inspiration and it’s relationship to the final product. Make sure to see the original post for all the great details she put into her design process!

These cool and refreshing colors make me wish I was sipping something minty while enjoying the smell of salty sea air. I can almost hear the seagulls now…

Why, hellooooo!
Please accept my apologies for effectively going MIA over the last few weeks, I’ve had a busy season to say the least! It’s been a whirlwind of creating new art, meeting new clients, signing new artists, and networking with some amazing fellow textile studios at both Printsource NY and Direction by Indigo, both of which took place in New York just last week. The next few days should be relatively calm, which will give me a chance to catch up around here on the blog. Below are a few snapshots from NY, and also a couple of sneak previews of some of the newest designs in the collection. Shoot us a message if you’re in the Los Angeles area and would like to see the line, or if you’re a textile artist looking to work with our studio.
Now that we have the booth number, the countdown is on to finish preparations and spread the word about our debut trade show in less than two weeks! The LA Textile Show is one of the leading trend and sourcing shows for apparel manufacturing on the west coast, and takes place twice a year at the Cal Mart. If you are going to be near downtown Los Angeles during Oct 10-12, come on by to view the latest collection and say hello! You can find us in booth 805. Entry is free for industry professionals, and $20 for guest visitors.
This week I was extremely flattered and humbled to be interviewed in a small feature on Pattern People‘s blog. They are always on top of the biggest happenings and trends within the world of surface design, and I easily consider them among the industry leaders here in the United States. Click here for the full post, and while you’re there spend a little time perusing their gorgeous blog, instructional e-books and catalog of free downloads.
