December can be fairly dreary, even here in sunny Los Angeles. So we bring you a palette from the brighter side of the spectrum; hues oozing with candy-coated goodness. Sweet tarts, Mentos and Mambas, Oh My!
It’s been a crazy few weeks jam packed with work, personal projects, travel and celebrations with loved ones. Just snap your fingers and you’ve got an idea of how fast April passed by. Nothing like a pretty mix of pastels and primaries to set me straight. Hope everyone is off to a great week!
After a little online shopping one thing is clear: it’s definitely the season of printed shoes. Sandals, ballet flats, heels, boots, or 4″ platforms; you can find all of those and more in a stupid crazy array of prints. Whatever your style may be, there’s bound to be a pair with your name on it. Style them with jeans and a tee, or an LBD to let your feet lap up the attention. Or pull on a printed frock for a snazzy print-mixing look. Below are a few of my favorites, but it’s a drop in the bucket compared to what’s out there. Which ones are screaming your name?
Although this textural trend isn’t entirely new, it’s so expansive that it deserves it’s own post. It only seems natural that the resurgence of prints in fashion and interior design would spawn an exploration of thread and the fiber arts, spilling over to all facets of art and design. Embroidery has become so incredibly popular, and is popping up in all kinds of unexpected places. When contrasted with flat, two dimensional imagery it creates an almost surreal juxtaposition of texture and technique. If you’re a tactile person like I am, you’ll have no problem finding ways to add a little embroidered goodness into your life.
