Nothing says Spring quite as sweetly as a soft and feminine floral, and this season you’re going to see lots of it. Light and airy, whispy and watery, delicately detailed. From literal to abstract, this season’s florals are sweeter than ever.
Preparing for the LA Textile show put a bit of a speed bump in posting our reviews of the recent Spring 2013 runway shows, but over the next two weeks we’ll be sharing our favorite print trends until we’re all caught up.
We start today with a trend that we predict will really make a splash come next spring. Yep, we had to say it.
From authentic to painterly, plaids, tweeds, and houndstooth prints were liberally sprinkled throughout many Resort ’13 collections. They seemingly provide a popular foundation for print mixing, too, adding a preppy twist on bohemian eclecticism.
Animal prints continued to be a popular theme in many Resort collections, perhaps being used in even more adventurous ways than the previous Fall season. Stick to the basic skins [jungle cats, the occasional zebra] and update by using fun colors, or combining with pretty much any other type of print out there, with florals and baroque being among the most popular. Of course a classic skin is never a bad idea, either.
